What Is Corrosion and How to Prevent Corrosion



Corrosion:

Corrosion is a metallic reaction which is a destructive attack that occurs with atmospheric conditions like moister, rain, temperature, etc.Due to the corrosion effect, it causes damage to the metals in every filed like Soil, Seawater, Concrete, etc.Corrosion is one of the leading problems facing everywhere from home applications to aircraft systems. By using Technology development researchers are find the solution through material designing, the performance of materials and depending upon the selection, etc.

Different types of corrosion effects:

  • Uniform corrosion
  • Galvanic corrosion.
  • Pitting Corrosion.
  • Atmospheric corrosion.
  • Erosion corrosion
  • Crevice corrosion.

  • Cracking.
  • Corrosion fatigue.

Depending upon the usage of material in different fields inspection of the material on corrosion is improved to find the solution and increases the life of material without getting the effect of corrosion on the material.

Prevention for corrosion:

To prevent the metal from corrosion effect Coating is the most common method that is followed by many years.
Coating an additional material is used to protect the products from corrosion. There are different types of coatings are developed to prevent corrosion. According to the working conditions in different fields, the coating system is applied to improve the life of the material under different environmental conditions.
There are different types of coatings like metallic coating, organic coating, In-organic coating, etc..
These coatings are applied according to the materials, properties of materials, working conditions, etc.
Depending upon the Temperature resistance, Wearability, Strength, Machinability, Electrical conductivity, Reflection, Hardness, Self-bonding, etc. and Considering the environmental conditions and effects and health effects Coatings are applied.
Mostly used coating materials are Aluminium, Chromium, Cadmium, Nickel, Zinc, Silver, Copper, Gold, etc. this type of coating material is used by considering their properties under different resistance power.
