Phenomenon of knocking in C.I Engine

Knocking Phenomenon in C.I Engine:

Knocking occurs in Diesel engine due to the delay period, this occurs due to the additional amount of fuel is injected into the combustion chamber when the first amount of fuel injected into the chamber that has a delay period pass for the preparation of the flame reaction.

The fuel accumulated in the cylinder depends on the delay period.

Due o this delay the high amount of fuel present in the cylinder and when the burning starts, the total amount of fuel present in engine gets burn and produce high flame, rise in pressure and uncontrolled combustion. this gives the Knocking effect of the engine.
