Difference between D.C Motor and D.C Generator

D.C Motor & D.C Generator: In this article we will know the difference between D.C motor and D.C Generator. D.C Motor is used to convert the electrical energy into mechanical work. D.C Generator is used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.

D.C motor:

  • D.C Motor is used to convert the electrical energy into mechanical work.
  • In this motor mechanical forces and e.m.f are used to develop in it.
  • In this Fleming’s left-hand rule helps in direction of the force.
  • By the help of external current supply, it used to run the motor.
  • In this e.m.f is worked as an opposition.
  • This motor is closed with the frame due to dust, impurities etc..
  • This motor construction is identical with D.C Generator.

D.C Generator:

  • D.C Generator is used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
  • In this both mechanical forces and e.m.f are developed in it.
  • Fleming’s left-hand rule is used to direct the induced e.m.f.
  • The output is generated by supply of some external force.
  • Magnetic drag is used as opposition to work in rotors.
  • The generator frame is like open this is to cleaning, cooling, and for any types of repairs.
  • D.C Generator is identical with D.C Motor.
