V-belt Drive System: Construction, Working and Types

V-Belt Drives:

V-Belt Drive itself represents the shape of the belt, this type of belt drives are mostly used to transmit more power at a high-velocity ratio. This is used to transmit the rotational power from one shaft to another. This type of belt drives is used to transfer power between short distance pulleys and there is a stability in continuous transformation of motion.

This type of belt drives is mostly used in different types of machinery like industrial machines, mills, textile mills, etc..

By using the best materials to manufacture with high advanced production method gives high efficient drive.

Belt drives are mostly designed according to the working conditions and power transmission.

V-Belt drives are the most powerful with smooth running which has high resistance to shocks.

This type of belt drives has a long life with high mechanical efficiency. and this belt drive has no maintenance. Due to the fabric lamination provided on it to resist external damages like shocks, temperature resistance, etc. And this type of belt drives has more surface contact with the pulleys which helps to transfer more power efficiently without any slips.

This type of belt drives are environmental free which can used in open areas like agricultural machines.

Using this belts gives favorable running at vibrations and used at critical drives.

The V-Belt contained tension cord and tooth can transmit high power and has high improvement in bending stress to over come the fractures. and obtains a high rotational speed.

There are various type of V-Belt drive to transmit the power from one shaft to another depending upon the power transmission, working conditions this designed.

Most of these belt drives are used in heavy types of machinery, compressors, pumps, agriculture machines, industrial machines, mining machines, etc.

Advantages of V-Belt drive:

  • Temperature resistance.
  • Shocks free.
  • Smooth running .
  • High power transmission.
  • More efficiency.
  • No Maintenance.
  • Long Life.
  • More stable at running.
  • More flexible.
  • No Slipping is occur.
  • Extreme operation conditions.

Disadvantages of V-Belt drives:

  • This are not useful for large distance between the pulleys.
  • It is not easy in design than most of other types.
  • Cost depend on the type of belt.
